Denture Base Materials (Self –Curing)

Feature:

o The main component of the powder is methacrylate copolymer. It has a moderate molecular weight and a narrow distribution, and the powder particles are small and uniform.

o The liquid agent uses high quality methyl methacrylate and reducing agent as raw materials.

Usage:

· Used to make full or partial denture base.

There are generally three types of base materials:



Metal base. Usually includes cast cobalt-chromium alloy stents and pure titanium stents. The metal stent has good mechanical properties, small foreign body sensation in the oral cavity, less impact on pronunciation, and good sensitivity, which is favored by the majority of patients.



Plastic base. Traditional denture restorations use polymethyl methacrylate as the main base material. Although the color of the plastic base is close to the oral mucosa, and it is also easy to repair and re-set, but because the base is large and thick, it is easy to make the patient feel nauseated foreign body, and the temperature sensitivity is not good, so many patients cannot accept.



Metal mesh reinforced plastic base. Since plastic base and metal base have their own advantages and disadvantages, they can be combined to achieve a good repair effect. Adding a metal reinforcing mesh to the resin base can not only enhance the mechanical strength of the denture, but also reduce the thickness of the denture, making the denture more comfortable and beautiful after being inserted, and it is also convenient for doctors and technicians to repair.
